Museum Visiting Tips
Most museums are closed Mondays and open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 AM-6 PM. The National Museum Complex is FREE admission. Bring comfortable walking shoes and allow 2-3 hours per museum. Visit early morning (9-10 AM) to avoid crowds and enjoy exhibits at a relaxed pace.
National Museum Complex
The National Museum Complex is the cornerstone of Manila's cultural scene, comprising three world-class museums. The National Museum of Fine Arts houses an extensive collection of Filipino art from classical to contemporary, including Juan Luna's iconic Spoliarium. The National Museum of Anthropology focuses on ethnology and archaeology, while the National Museum of Natural History features the Tree of Life exhibit and diverse specimens. All three museums offer free admission and are open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Ayala Museum
Ayala Museum showcases Philippine art, culture, and history through its impressive permanent collections and rotating exhibitions. The "Gold of Ancestors" exhibit displays pre-Hispanic gold artifacts that highlight the sophisticated metallurgical skills of early Filipinos. The museum also features dioramas depicting Philippine history, fine arts collections, and ecclesiastical artifacts. Located in the heart of Makati's business district, it's open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is ₱750 for adults.
The Mind Museum
The Mind Museum is the Philippines' premier science museum, featuring five interactive galleries that make learning about science engaging and fun for all ages. Metropolitan Museum of Manila
Since relocating to its new home in BGC in October 2022, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila has established itself as a premier destination for contemporary art and cultural programs. The museum features rotating exhibitions from both Philippine and international artists, promoting visual arts and cultural exchange. With its modern architecture and accessible location right beside Bonifacio High Street, it's perfect for combining museum visits with BGC exploration. Open Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Art in Island
Art in Island offers a completely unique museum experience where you become part of the art. This interactive 3D art museum features over 200 hand-painted murals created by Filipino and Korean artists, all designed using optical illusions that create perfect photo opportunities. From flying on a magic carpet to swimming with dolphins, the possibilities are endless. The museum encourages visitors to touch the art and pose for photos, making it especially popular with families and social media enthusiasts. Open daily with extended hours on weekends. Allow 2-3 hours to explore all exhibits.
